My entire department is having a farewell lunch for me! :)

My entire department is having a farewell lunch for me! :)

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Sometimes it takes sadness to know happiness.

SPOILER ALERT
Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student falls for her American classmate, they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa. Like Crazy explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart.

This is such an enlightening movie that I personally feel depicts the complications of what (true) love can be. The ending is an open-ended one that leaves much room for questions and interpretation. Something about this movie moved me in that in some parts I felt like I was watching myself onscreen. The entire movie is a roller-coaster of emotions and a battle of life vs love. Too often we get caught up in similar battles and are faced to choose between the two. The tragedy throughout the film is that the relationship between the girl and the boy is never fully on or fully off. So many times they are forced to stop and start again, a tiring and disheartening cycle. Every ending is a new beginning of sorts. Despite their place in life, they are never able to shake each other off for the rest of their lives. They will always be a part of each other, no matter what they do or who they get with, whether they’re with each other or not. Incomparable new relationships never last; history, lack of closure, and simply knowing that the strongest feelings they have for each other always brings them back and prevents them from ever fully moving on. This frames a feeling of helplessness, of not understanding fully what it is - this to me is the most heartbreaking thing.
